Keyboard shortcuts

Every key LightPhotos listens for, grouped by what you are doing.

Shortcuts are written the macOS way — on Windows and Linux, read Cmd as Ctrl. Press ? inside the app for the list as your own machine shows it.

LightPhotos is built to be driven from the keyboard: rate a folder without touching the mouse, move through a shoot at full size, and apply one photo's look to the rest. The list below is everything the app listens for, and ? shows the same list in-app on your own machine.

Getting around

Key Does
Cmd+O Open a different folder
Enter / Space Open the selected photo (in the library)
Esc Back to the library from the editor
← / → Previous / next photo in the editor; move the highlight in the grid
E / G Jump to the editor / the library
? Show or hide the in-app shortcut list

Rating and labelling

Key Does
0 – 5 Set the star rating (0 clears it)

Selecting

Key Does
Cmd+A Select all in the current folder
Shift+Click Range-select in the grid
Cmd+Click Toggle one photo in or out of the selection
Shift+← / → Extend the selection with the arrow keys

Zoom and pan

Key Does
Space Cycle zoom between fit and 100%
Cmd+0 Fit to window
Cmd+1 100% (1:1 pixels)
Cmd++ / Cmd+- Zoom in / out in 20% steps
Space+Drag Pan
Shift+Scroll Pan horizontally
Alt+Scroll Pan vertically
Shift+Alt+Scroll Trackpad zoom

Developing and exporting

Key Does
C / Y Before / after compare
Cmd+U Auto Tone this photo from its own histogram
Cmd+Shift+U Auto Tone the whole selection
Cmd+Shift+C Copy the develop settings off one photo
Cmd+Shift+Y Apply the copied settings to the selection
X Export the selection as JPG
Delete Permanently delete; cannot be undone
