Terms
LightPhotos is free, open source software. These terms are short because there is little to govern: no accounts, no payments, and your photos are never uploaded to us.
The software
The LightPhotos app, in both its desktop and browser versions, is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3. That license sets out what you may do with the code, and it governs wherever it and these terms overlap.
Your photos stay yours
LightPhotos reads and edits files on your own machine. We claim no rights to your photos or your edits. If you export to an Immich server, photos go to the server you chose, not to us, and that server’s own terms apply.
Keep backups
LightPhotos works on your real photo library. Software has bugs, so keep backups of anything you can’t afford to lose.
No warranty
The website, the browser app and the desktop app are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage from using them, including lost or corrupted photos, edits or metadata. This matches sections 15 and 16 of the GPL.
Privacy
What the site and apps record is described on the privacy page.
Changes
These terms may change as LightPhotos does. The current version is always on this page, and its history is public in the site’s repository.
