Immich server

Upload finished photos from the desktop app to any Immich server you host yourself.

Shortcuts are written the macOS way — on Windows and Linux, read Cmd as Ctrl. Press ? inside the app for the list as your own machine shows it.

The LightPhotos desktop app can upload finished photos straight to any Immich server you point it at — including one on a box in your closet. Open the export dialog and choose the Immich tab, then paste your server's address and an API key.

  • Immich is a photo library you host yourself. It is the closest thing to a self-hosted Google Photos, and LightPhotos treats it as a first-class export target.
  • Your server address and API key are stored locally. They live in the desktop app's config and are never sent anywhere except your own Immich server.
  • Let the server handle duplicates. Immich already deduplicates by content hash, so re-exporting the same photo is safe.
  • The web version can't upload to Immich. It shows the Immich tab with a note that it only works in the desktop app. Browsers block a web page from talking to a server on another site unless that server allows it, and Immich doesn't.

Once connected, exporting to Immich works exactly like exporting to disk: select your photos, choose the Immich tab, and confirm. Your adjustments are baked in before the upload, so what lands on the server is the finished photo.
